This former Bears QB was actually listed as the worst player in NFL history
As the 89th overall pick in the 1980 NFL Draft, Rusty Lisch was supposed to be a star. In 1979 he played 10 games as QB for Notre Dame, as Joe Montana's backup. With 108 completions and six touchdowns, he showed promise and rapid improvement which piqued the Bears' interest.
Rusty finished his career with a dismal 25.1 passer rating. He had one touchdown in his career to Doug Marsh, alongside 11 interceptions. His performance was so ragged he was once benched in a game and replaced with none other than Walter Payton himself. Granted Jim McMahon is on the record saying Payton's hands were just as good as his.
The poor guy washed out of the league by 1984, so he never saw the Super bowl success of his teammates. After his poor performance in the 1984 opener, he sat on the plane reading a bible to which Mike Ditka said "I hope there is something in that book about job opportunities because you'll need one Monday. His son however Kevin Lisch made a name for himself in the Australian pro basketball circuit so maybe there is a little redemption for his legacy. Augustin Mojica of Sportscasting listed Rusty Lisch as the worst player in NFL History...
