The Chicago Bears may be best served by using Occam's razor, selecting Georgia's Jalen Carter, a unique talent with a rare skill set, with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. Although other teams may be interested in trading up, the Bears will only consider a move that provides good value. They will not move out of the top five altogether, as they run the risk of missing out on the class' top talents. If the Bears have multiple options with identical grades, general manager Ryan Poles should make a deal. Carter is the complete package and has no glaring holes in his game. He's versatile, quick, and athletic, and can play as a run defender and as a pass-rusher. His skill set is rare, and he stood out even on arguably the best defense in college football history. He is different from other big-time defensive tackles and is an excellent choice for the Bears. Although Alabama's Will Anderson Jr. is a strong candidate, Carter is the preferred choice as the Bears seek to build their roster.
