Top Contenders Revealed, Two Teams Emerge as Most Aggressive for Chicago Bears' 1 Pick
The Chicago Bears have found themselves in an enviable position as they hold the top pick in the upcoming NFL draft. With several teams in the top 10 also vying for a quarterback, they are in a perfect spot to capitalize on the high demand. According to GM Ryan Poles, he has already been in contact with three teams and is confident he can secure a future 1st round pick in both 2024 and 2025. Peter King of NBC Sports believes the most aggressive teams in the race for the top pick are the Indianapolis Colts and the Carolina Panthers. The Colts have had a different starting quarterback for five years running and have not won a playoff game in the last four seasons. Meanwhile, Panthers' owner David Tepper is on the hunt for a long-term answer to their quarterback problem, and he wants it now. While the Colts may not have to offer as much as the Panthers to secure the top pick, the latter might be willing to overpay, making them the more desperate of the two.
The Bears have no reason to hurry and can take their time to squeeze the most out of any deal they get. The veteran quarterback market is drying up, and with momentum building, at least three of the top four quarterbacks are likely to be gone before the sixth pick. Waiting for the ideal quarterback to fall is not an option, as Houston and Indianapolis are expected to pick one. Overall, the Bears are in a perfect position to leverage their top pick, and it will be interesting to see which team ultimately wins the race for the quarterback they desire.
