Kansas City Chiefs TE, Travis Kelce, spoke about being underpaid during his interview with Vanity Fair. Kelce said:
Kelce continued by explaining that he is not concerned with how much he gets paid, even though those around him are.
He is estimated to make $14,312,500 under his contract through 2025, which is lower than other tight ends, such as; George Kittle (who will be making $15 million) and Darren Waller (who will be making $17 million).
Kelce obviously deserves to be the highest paid TE, but he finds winning more important than money, something he mentioned when comparing himself to former teammate Tyreek Hill:
Hill signed a 4-year, $120 million extension with the Dolphins, something Kelce has noted. He seems to be implying that Hill cares more about the money, rather than being on a winning team. It is not uncommon for players to sign these big deals with unestablished teams, but Kelce has more of a winning mentality. It looks like the TE is not too happy with Hill's decision, and believes he made the wrong choice going somewhere for the money.
After being drafted by them in 2013, Kelce has spent the last 10 years with the Chiefs, and plans on staying for much longer. The 2-time Super Bowl champ is loyal to his team, and money will not change that.
