Miami Dolphins' star receiver, Tyreek Hill, humorously described his new teammate, fellow receiver Chase Claypool, after the latter's recent acquisition.
In a recent trade, the Dolphins brought in the somewhat unpredictable fourth-year player, Claypool, along with a 2025 seventh-round pick from the Chicago Bears, giving away a 2025 sixth-round pick in return. Claypool, hailing from Canada, sat out Weeks 4 and 5 and then found himself traded to Miami.
Addressing the media last Thursday, Hill humorously commented on Claypool's appearance on the field, saying he "looks like a vending machine when he's running," as reported by David Furones of the Sun Sentinel. Hill left the peculiar "vending machine" remark open to interpretation.
Standing tall at 6-foot-4 and weighing 238 pounds, Claypool's career in the NFL has been a mix of brilliance and unpredictability. During his tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2020 and 2021, he managed to accumulate over 800 yards each year, impressively scoring nine touchdowns in his debut season. However, following an uneven performance in Pittsburgh, he was traded to the Bears, later turning out to be the No. 32 pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. Claypool's time in Chicago was underwhelming, logging only 18 catches for 191 yards and a touchdown in 10 appearances.
Now with Miami, Claypool has the opportunity to rejuvenate his career. Playing for a dominant Miami team that boasts the league's top-scoring offense (averaging a whopping 36.2 points per game) and the formidable receiving pair of Hill and Jaylen Waddle, South Beach could be the ideal setting for Claypool to showcase his early-career form.
