As reported by insider Adam Schefter, the Vikings and tight end TJ Hockenson have agreed on a MEGA contract extension, that will make Hockenson the highest paid tight end in NFL history:
With this deal, Hockenson will be getting a $68.5M extension on a 4-year deal. He will also be getting $42.5 million guaranteed, which is the highest for a tight end in NFL history.
Hockenson is a former first-round pick from the 2019 NFL draft. He was selected by the Lions and spent 3 full seasons with the team until being traded to the Vikings during the 2022 season.
He is a pretty good tight end, but for him to be making more money than Travis Kelce and George Kittle sounds odd to me. But, clearly the Vikings are liking what they are seeing from him, and believe that he deserves this deal.
In 57 games played thus far in his career, Hockenson has a total of 246 receptions for 2,587 yards, along with 18 touchdowns. He is also a 2-time Pro Bowler.
