Washington VP Says Chicago Drafted Trubisky Because He's White.
"The Chicago Bears definitely surprised some people when they traded up to draft their quarterback. That QB of course was Mitch Trubisky instead of Deshaun Watson or Patrick Mahomes. A couple of years later and Watson and Mahomes are superstars while Trubisky might not even have a job in a year after his fifth year option was declined. Mahomes and Watson meanwhile are looking at monster, possibly record breaking contracts. Hindsight is always 20/20 when it comes to looking back at drafts but according to one NFL exec it wasn't a talent or scouting reason that Trubisky was chosen before Watson and Mahomes. It was race. Washington VP Doug Williams believes the Bears only chose Trubisky over Watson and Mahomes because he's white. He added that if Watson or Mahomes were white, they would have gone before Trubisky. Bears declining 5th yr. option on Mitchell Trubisky, QB they chose AHEAD of Patrick Mahomes AND DeShaun Watson. I asked Doug Williams where Mahomes and Watson would have gone if they'd been white: "Ahead of Trubisky," he said. "Ahead of No. 2" I said. "Absolutely," he answered.

What about four white QB's going WAY ahead of Lamar Jackson? I'm not saying there's racism across the board, but to pretend it doesn't ever influence the men making these decisions is naive.
