Though Burris is best known for his legendary CFL career, he also played QB for the Bears in 2002, playing in 6 games with only 1 start. He then returned to the Bears in 2020 to serve as the seasonal coaching assistant and then switched to the offensive quality control coach in 2021, but left after that season.
As heard, Burris sees the blame mainly being on the offensive play calling, which is, or should I say "was" run by Luke Getsy. Now that Getsy has been fired, are the Bears confident in sticking with Fields and bringing in a new system?
With the offensive staff gone, the Bears have the opportunity to build a new system that works well with Fields instead of drafting someone new. The Bears know what Fields can do if he has the right support around him, and if they can hire some new staff members, then Fields can truly shine.
The downfall of the Bears should not be blamed on Fields!
