After watching last night's game, the first glaring thing I witnessed was the importance of the offensive line. You have to be able to get to the quarterback, but you must protect yours as well. The Bears should have no problem generating a good pass rush with Robert Quinn and Khalil Mack. However, they have to protect their quarterback better. We saw last night, in the second half, the Bengals failed to protect Joe Burrow and this was what changed the game.
Bears' fans are very passionate about the need for a better o-line. While they are correct, you still need some explosive playmakers. We saw so many big, game-changing plays last night. Cooper Kupp had some, Tee Higgins and Jamar Chase had a couple as well. You simply cannot expect, in today's NFL, to march down the field 6-7 times per game for the score. You need to have some chunk plays in order to be a great offense. While Darnell Mooney is a great player, he still needs another player at least to help him take the offensive load.
Finally, the last thing the Bears need to learn after watching the Super Bowl is that you have to have a great quarterback that can make some plays when you need him to. Stafford was great down the stretch. I think his first interception was definitely a forced throw. But, he made some great plays in the 4th quarter. He was deprived of pretty much all of his targets not named Cooper Kupp and he still found a way to carry his team to victory. The Bears have a guy that has the potential to do that. Now, the important thing is to develop him so he can fulfill what he was drafted to do which is to bring a championship to the city of Chicago.
