Why RB Josh Jacobs Could be Traded to the Bears
The theme this offseason has been NFL running backs speaking out and demanding more money. RBs are one of the lowest paid positions in the league, and they believe it's time to start making the big bucks, like many of their teammates.
Raiders RB Josh Jacobs is one of the RBs not thrilled with his money situations, as he was franchise tagged, and is waiting for a better offer until he returns to his team. He was not seen at minicamp, and may not be seen until week 1, as long as an offer is made. Because of this, Jacobs may get traded, and the Chicago Bears should pursue him.
Jacobs was drafted in 2019 and has played for the Raiders since. He is a 2-time Pro Bowler, a First-Team All-Pro, and was the NFL rushing yards leader last season. He is one of the best RBs in the game, and wants the respect he deserves.
The Raiders do not have the money to pay him what he wants, but the Bears do, and could use a star RB. They have an NFL-high $32 million in cap space, meaning they can please Jacobs with an offer. Adding Jacobs will only add to this new and improved Bears team, and it will allow Fields to focus more on his throwing game, rather than his own running game.
This trade would make the Bears a real contender, and it will make Jacobs a star on the team, who will be getting paid what he wants.
