Rodgers has yet to be traded from the Green Bay Packers, but he announced his decision to leave during an interview on the Pat McAfee Show. The Jets are eager to acquire Rodgers, as they believe they only need a better quarterback to take them to the top. Apparently, that's not Wilson, at least not yet.
Wilson was asked about his thoughts on the team potentially acquiring a veteran quarterback earlier this year and stated that he would make life difficult for whoever it may be. However, it's difficult to envision him causing problems for Rodgers, who is one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. Although Rodgers could struggle in training camp and preseason, he will undoubtedly start ahead of Wilson. The Jets will not pay someone $60 million to sit on the bench.
Perhaps this experience will be beneficial for Wilson's career. He will have the opportunity to observe how Rodgers approaches the game and then have a second chance at being the Jets' lead quarterback. Additionally, the two players are said to have a good relationship, and Wilson has previously stated that Rodgers is his idol.
