13-year-old Sophie Nieves embodies this spirit of perseverance. Today, Sophie and her family are en route to Kansas City to root for her beloved Chicago Bears, thanks to the combined efforts of Advocate Healthcare, United Airlines, and the Bears.
When Sophie was 10, she was diagnosed with leukemia, initially mistaken for COVID symptoms by her parents. After numerous hospital visits, last month marked the end of her chemotherapy treatments, declaring her cancer-free.
To sweeten her journey even further, Sophie had the chance to meet her idol, Bears quarterback Justin Fields, at Halas Hall on Saturday. Recalling their interaction, Sophie shared, "He told me, I'll see you at the game, and I hope we secure a win this season.'"
During her visit to Halas Hall, Sophie received a guided tour, a signed hat, and custom sneakers. Come Sunday, Sophie and her family will enjoy premium field access before the game, prime seating, and top-notch hospitality.
Additionally, Sophie had the unique opportunity to experience behind-the-scenes at O'Hare Airport. Meeting with pilots and observing operations not usually visible to the public, Sophie expressed her intention to give back in her own way in the future.
