The former quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide and the NFL threw the game-winning touchdown pass that resulted in a win for his team. The St. Louis Battlehawks were trailing 15-3 with only three minutes left on the clock. However, McCarron led the team down the field and found former Philadelphia Eagles receiver Hakeem Butler for an 18-yard touchdown. He then completed a three-point conversion to Austin Proehl, cutting the lead to 15-12.
The Battlehawks had the option of attempting an onside kick or a 4th and 15 play from their own 25 while trailing by 3. They chose the latter, and the play was converted, leading the team to victory.
McCarron's last NFL appearance was in 2021, where he played for the Atlanta Falcons. He was on the injured reserve list after tearing his ACL in Week 2 of the preseason. McCarron had previously been a backup quarterback for the Bengals, Raiders, and Texans after being drafted in 2014.
