Akiem Hicks now joins a stacked Bucs' defensive front that includes Vita Vea and second-round pick Logan Hall. And Hicks addition means free-agent Ndamukong Suh's time in Tampa figures to be over. Hicks had been a part of the Chicago Bears organization for the past 6 seasons. He had been a focal point of the Bears' defense ever since. His impact was tremendous on the field. Hicks is not the guy that shows up on the stats sheet a lot, but the work he puts in is so important.
However, Hicks has been having more and more injury problems for the past three years. He has missed over 20 games during that time and when he was on the field, he didn't look as dominant as he once was. When you mix that with the coaching changes we see at literally every position, you could see the writing on the walls... his time in Chicago was likely done.
It's truly sad to see such an impactful player leave the Bears. He was a great player, a great leader and an even better man. Bears nation wishes you the best and you will always be able to identify as a Bear for the rest of your life!
