BearDigest's Projected Bears Depth Chart for Preseason: Fields Leads, Ngakoue Anchors Defense

As we gear up for the first preseason game, the Chicago Bears are yet to release their official depth chart. But fear not, because we have our own projected depth chart, ignoring the "unofficial" label. Let's dive into the projected lineup for the Bears ahead of the preseason kick-off.

On the offense, we have Justin Fields leading the pack as the starting quarterback, with P.J. Walker and Nathan Peterman as the backup options. In the running back position, Khalil Herbert takes the top spot, with D'Onta Foreman and Roschon Johnson as the backups. Khari Blasingame takes the fullback position, followed by Robert Burns.

At the wide receiver position, DJ Moore, Darnell Mooney, and Chase Claypool form the formidable trio, with Equanimeous St. Brown, Tyler Scott, and Joe Reed backing them up. The tight end position features Cole Kmet as the starter, Robert Tonyan Jr. as the second option, and veteran Marcedes Lewis providing depth.

Moving to the offensive line, we have Braxton Jones as the starting left tackle, supported by Kellen Diesch and Bobby Haskins. Teven Jenkins, Dieter Eiselen, and Josh Lugg are in contention for the left guard position. Cody Whitehair holds the center spot, while Lucas Patrick and Doug Kramer are backup options. The right guard spot belongs to Nate Davis, with Ja'Tyre Carter and Gabe Houy behind him. Darnell Wright secures the right tackle position, and Alex Leatherwood and Roy Mbaeteka are the reserves.

On the defensive side, Yannick Ngakoue leads the way as the defensive end, with Rasheem Green and Trevis Gipson as backups. Andrew Billings is at defensive tackle, supported by Bravvion Roy and Travis Bell. Justin Jones holds the other defensive tackle spot, with Grevon Dexter Jr. and Zacch Pickens as the backups. The other defensive end position is held by DeMarcus Walker, with Dominique Robinson and Terrell Lewis providing depth.

The linebacker positions feature T.J. Edwards, Tremaine Edmunds, and Jack Sanborn as the starters for weakside, middle, and strongside, respectively. Noah Sewell, Dylan Cole, and DeMarquis Gates back them up. Kyler Gordon takes the slot cornerback role, while Tyrique Stevenson and Terell Smith man the left and right cornerback spots. Jaylon Johnson and Kindle Vildor offer depth at cornerback, along with Greg Stroman Jr.

In the safety positions, Eddie Jackson and Jaquan Brisker are the starters, with Elijah Hicks, Kendall Williamson, and A.J. Thomas providing depth.

And lastly, the special teams see Trenton Gill as the punter, Cairo Santos as the kicker, and Patrick Scales as the long snapper.

It's important to remember that preseason depth charts can be fluid, and the actual lineup might vary as the regular season approaches. Nevertheless, it's exciting to see how the Bears' depth chart is shaping up, and fans can't wait to see how these players perform on the field. Let the preseason action begin!
