The Chicago Bears have officially welcomed seasoned defensive guru, Phil Snow, to their coaching ranks. Head coach Matt Eberflus had expressed a desire to strengthen his defensive coaching staff following the departure of defensive coordinator Alan Williams.
In a recent press briefing, Eberflus mentioned that Snow would be providing invaluable insights to the senior coaching panel, from scouting reports to varied tactical support. But who exactly is Phil Snow?
With a rich seven-year track record in the NFL, Snow has worn several hats. He served as a defensive assistant and linebackers coach with the Detroit Lions from 2005 to 2008. Later, he took on the role of the Carolina Panthers' defensive coordinator between 2020 and 2022, where his defensive units delivered solid, if not stellar, performances.
Beyond the NFL, Snow's extensive 40-year coaching journey has been predominantly rooted in college football. He played pivotal roles as the defensive coordinator for institutions like Boise State, Arizona State, UCLA, Eastern Michigan, Baylor, and Temple.
