After Justin Fields was ruled out with a thumb injury, undrafted rookie Bagent was named as the Bears starter for week 7, and even with many odds against him, he shined.
Bagent finished the game going 21/29, throwing for for 162 yards, along with 1 touchdown. Bagent lead the team to victory in his first ever NFL start, and fans are thrilled.
After the game, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus was asked if the team would continue keeping Bagent as their starter, even when Fields is healthy. Eberflus then answered the question by saying:
Even with a great game on Sunday, the Bears will continue to keep Bagent as their backup, so once Fields is healthy, we will be seeing him as the starting QB again.
