On Thanksgiving, the Packers defeated the Lions, and the pivotal moment of the game occurred in the first quarter when Jared Goff and the Lions appeared to be struggling. Goff had two early fumbles, and the Packers capitalized on one by returning it for a touchdown, giving them a quick 20-6 lead that ultimately sealed the Lions' fate in their 22-29 loss. After the game, as is customary for all NFL head coaches, Dan Campbell addressed the media. Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus could benefit from observing how Campbell handled the questions and responses, especially considering Campbell's leadership in the NFC North.

To be honest, I never held high expectations for Dan Campbell as the head coach of the Lions. I've never been a fan of the overly enthusiastic type of coach who believes that leading workouts with the team is sufficient motivation for game day success. After watching him on Hard Knocks in 2022, I criticized his actions as uninspiring and unfit for leading an NFL team. However, it appears that I was mistaken. Campbell has won me over, even though his coaching style may not align with my preferences.

Following the loss to the Packers, Dan Campbell was asked about the fake punt call, to which he candidly responded, "Yeah, look, that's a bad call on me. That's a bad call. You know, I shouldn't have done that to those guys. That's a bad call. It's a bad call. On me. It is. Shouldn't have done that."

This level of accountability is remarkably refreshing. It is a stark contrast to what we have heard from Matt Eberflus. In one of his recent press conferences, when questioned about the Chicago Bears' collapse against the Lions, Eberflus managed to find a way to commend himself for play calls made weeks prior against the Saintsa game they ultimately lost. It has become a running joke that Eberflus needs a press secretary to handle his press conferences, but perhaps it's no longer a laughing matter.

All we seem to hear from Eberflus is an emphasis on a lack of execution. It's challenging to imagine how players can remain motivated to play hard for a coach who consistently avoids taking responsibility and attributes issues to a lack of execution. This approach is unacceptable, and Matt Eberflus should consider adopting a more accountable stance, similar to Dan Campbell's post-game press conference. It's yet another reason why the Chicago Bears should seriously contemplate parting ways with Eberflus at the end of the season, if not sooner.
