Tragically, his courageous struggle came to an end this week, and it was announced that he had passed away.
The severe injuries he sustained resulted from a steel beam falling on his head, leading to significant brain swelling and the prospect of paralysis.
During his time at Syracuse University from 2006 to 2009, Williams was a standout college football player, leaving a lasting legacy. He ranked ninth in program history in career receptions, eighth in receiving yards, and second in touchdown receptions. Williams made his NFL debut in 2010 and was the runner-up for Offensive Rookie of the Year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He continued to play for three more seasons in Tampa before being traded to the Buffalo Bills, his hometown team, in his final NFL season in 2014. Williams made an attempt at a comeback with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016 but was subsequently released.
Our hearts go out to his friends and family during this incredibly challenging time, and our thoughts and prayers are with them.
