As reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Eagles are poised to release Kevin Byard this month. Byard was acquired from the Tennessee Titans via trade last season, with safety Terrell Edmunds heading the other way. In addition to the player swap, Philadelphia also sent a 2024 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick to Tennessee. Despite being a two-time All-Pro, Byard's performance with the Eagles saw him tally 75 tackles, one interception, and three defended passes across 10 games.
This move will free up over $13 million in salary cap space for the Eagles.
While Byard's arrival was anticipated to bolster the Eagles' secondary, the expected impact failed to materialize. It seems General Manager Howie Roseman is unwilling to grant Byard another opportunity to showcase his abilities in Philadelphia.
