Only 18 days after inking a deal with N'Keal Harry, the 2019 first-round selection by the New England Patriots, the Vikings have opted to release him. The move was officially announced on Thursday and is in line with the team's decision to sign safety Jake Gervase.
As stated on the Vikings' official site:
«Gervase is the latest addition to the Vikings, having previously participated in 19 regular-season matches over four seasons with the Rams. He was also a part of all four playoff matches, leading to the Rams clinching Super Bowl LVI.
"To make space for Gervase on the team, the Vikings have ended their contract with receiver N'Keal Harry.»
While Harry was chosen 32nd overall by the Patriots, his tenure there was marred by injuries and inconsistent game time. Over 35 games with the Pats, Harry made 59 catches.
Post-trade from New England, the 25-year-old played seven matches for the Chicago Bears last July, registering seven catches, 116 yards, and one touchdown. Upon season's end, he transitioned into free agency.
Despite signing with the Vikings on August 6, Harry's stint was brief, ending after just 29 preseason plays.
