Chris Harris, the Tennessee Titans' Defensive Passing Game Coordinator and Cornerbacks Coach, is set to interview for the vacant Defensive Coordinator position with the Chicago Bears, as reported by Tom Pelissero. Harris has also recently interviewed for the same role with the Jacksonville Jaguars. This situation could see the Titans losing Harris even before hiring a new head coach.

Despite the firing of Mike Vrabel, Tennessee's assistant coaches remain under contract. General Manager Ran Carthon has granted them permission to explore opportunities elsewhere while the team conducts its search for a new head coach. Notably, Defensive Coordinator Shane Bowen also interviewed with the Jaguars.

Harris, a former safety during his playing career, has an interesting connection with the Bears, as he was drafted by Chicago in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He had two separate stints with the Bears as a player, totaling four seasons. Subsequently, in 2013, Harris joined the Bears' coaching staff as a Defensive Quality Control Coach.

In other coaching news, the Bears recently hired Shane Waldron as their new Offensive Coordinator, indicating that Matt Eberflus is swiftly assembling his coaching staff for the 2024 season. It is possible that news regarding the Bears' Defensive Coordinator vacancy will surface later this week.

Harris had been a highly sought-after coaching candidate across the league before joining the Titans ahead of the 2023 season. This marks the second consecutive offseason that Harris has interviewed for Defensive Coordinator positions, suggesting that he remains a desirable candidate for coaching roles. Depending on the next head coach for the Titans, there may be interest in retaining Harris on their coaching staff.
