Darren Waller experienced a breakthrough moment last Sunday when he scored his first touchdown as a member of the New York Giants.

This was the kind of impact the Giants and their fans had hoped for when they acquired Darren Waller from the Las Vegas Raiders in March. However, there are now rumors swirling about the possibility of Waller departing from New York. The Giants had prioritized adding offensive weapons for quarterback Daniel Jones during the offseason, but it appears that Waller might be on the move.

The Las Vegas Raiders surprised everyone by trading Waller to the Giants in exchange for a third-round draft pick.

An NFL scout has suggested that if the Giants decide to part ways with Waller, the Cincinnati Bengals should seize the opportunity to acquire him.

"Cincinnati is in need of a tight end, and I believe Darren Waller would be an excellent target for the Bengals at the trade deadline," said the scout. "While New York may be reluctant to trade him, the Bengals should be ready to make a move."

The Cincinnati Bengals currently find themselves at the bottom of the highly competitive AFC North, with every team in the division boasting at least a .500 record. Adding a player of Waller's caliber could significantly boost the Bengals' playoff prospects and potentially lead them to their third consecutive AFC Championship game.

Waller spent the previous five seasons with the Raiders, establishing himself as one of the league's premier tight ends. In 2020, the 30-year-old recorded 107 receptions for 1,196 yards and nine touchdowns, earning a Pro Bowl selection. Unfortunately, injuries have hampered his performance over the past two seasons, and he has not been able to replicate those impressive numbers.

In the 2021 season, Waller missed 14 games, limiting him to 28 receptions, 388 yards, and three touchdowns in nine appearances. He is currently under contract for the next four seasons.
