The Bears had arguably one of the 2 or 3 worst offensive lines in football last season. While a good quarterback can sometimes help his offensive line by throwing the ball quicker and by avoiding defenders, he can't make miracles. With that being said, Justin Fields and Andy Dalton have some blame to take in the league-high 58 sacks allowed last year. They simply need to get rid of the ball sooner.
The new Chicago Bears GM and his assistant GM, Ian Cunningham are both former offensive linemen and they mentioned multiple times already that they will do everything in their power to build a strong Oline. After all, it is the foundation of any great team.
How to fix the true problem
The problem with the current offensive line is quite simple: It lacks talent. In order to fix that, Ryan Poles need to pick up at least 2 good free agent offensive linemen. With over $35 million in projected cap space, he has the ability to pay for a quality player or two like Ryan Jensen or Teron Armstead. He also needs to draft a least 2 other young talented offensive line players. If you could have an offensive line consisting of 3 veteran players, including Cody Whitehair and 2 young developing players, you might have something to work with.
It is worth mentioning that the Chicago Bears drafted two young players in Larry Borom and Teven Jenkins. With the new competent coaching staff, they could develop into solid starters as soon as next season.
Ryan Poles, the floor is yours.
