While going over the new additions, I am realizing how much of steal Trent Taylor truly is...
Taylor has been serving as the punt returner since entering the NFL in 2017, as a 5th round draft pick. Though he is also listed as a wide receiver, his best skills are showcased during a return.
Last season with the Bengals, Taylor had 5 punt returns of 20+ yards, which led the NFL. It has also been reported that he averaged 14.5 yards per return this season. Taylor is considered to be one of the best PR's in the NFL, which is why it was surprising to see the Bengals cut him.
Not only is Taylor a great returner that every team should want, he is also joining the Bears when they need him most. Last season, Bears WR Velus Jones Jr served as the PR, but struggled all year, as well as this preseason. The next option the Bears had was WR Dante Pettis, but he has been placed on the IR. Bears looked to be stuck without a PR, until now...
Taylor will most likely be serving as the teams PR1, and hopefully score some TDs on those returns.
