Fowler reported that he is now "more convinced than ever" that the Jets will aggressively pursue a trade for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The buzz surrounding the Jets and Rodgers was reportedly strong at the Senior Bowl and continues to be, with the future Hall of Famer being the team's "target A" until proven otherwise. As for the Packers, Fowler stated that they are not currently entertaining any potential trades, as Rodgers has yet to decide if he will return for the 2023 season.
Fowler also noted that if Rodgers is not an option, he gets the sense that the Jets would turn to Derek Carr as their second option. Carr has recently informed the Las Vegas Raiders that he will not accept a trade to any team and is expected to be released soon. In 2022, Rodgers played in all 17 games for the Packers, completing 64.6 percent of his passes for 3,695 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, as well as rushing for 94 yards and a touchdown.
Before being benched, Carr finished last season with 3,522 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions, resulting in an 86.3 passer rating.
