Grant was traded to the Bears during the season in 2021 in exchange for a 6th round-pick. He played in 11 games for Chicago. He was a true bright spot last year.
He started as a pure return-man specialist. However, both injuries and COVID issues forced the team to use him as a wide receiver, where Grant found a lot of success later in the year. Here were his stats with Chicago last season:
15 targets, 9 receptions, 139 yards (15.4 yards per reception), 2 touchdowns
26 punt returns, 309 yards (11.9 yards per return), 1 touchdown
23 kick returns, 539 yards (23.4 yards per return), 0 touchdowns
When asked by the Chicago Times if he wanted to come back to Chicago for next season, Grant was very clear that he was willing to. He said:" If the chips fall right, I'll be back in Chicago". He also added that he hoped his play on both special team and offense caught the new coaching staff's attention. Grant then finished up by saying that he believes he would be a great fit for new offensive coordinator Luke Getsy's offense.
It would have been great to have him back in Chicago but, at this price, Ryan Poles decided to let him walk. Hopefully, with the emergence of Khalil Herbert and potentially a future draft prospect, the Bears will be able to fill the void created by Grant's absence. Nonetheless, this one stings because Grant was really starting to become a fan favorite. Best of luck to you in Cleveland!
Here is a couple of his best moments with the Bears:
