Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson made his sentiments unmistakably clear after scoring a touchdown from an interception during the game's final moments on Sunday.

He's looking for a raise.

Celebrating his interception-turned-touchdown, the 24-year-old removed his helmet and, looking directly into the camera, made a gesture reminiscent of Jerry Maguire's famous "Show me the money."

When inquired if his jubilation was linked to not yet receiving a contract extension, Johnson was blunt. «Absolutely,» he confirmed to NBC Sports Chicago. «I've been ready for negotiations. I recognize my worth in this game and believe I should be compensated accordingly.»

Despite the Bears' underwhelming start to the 2023 season, Johnson, among others, has been swirling in trade speculations leading up to the NFL's Oct. 31 trade cut-off. The former Utah standout is experiencing a stellar season with 15 tackles, three pass deflections, a tackle for loss, and a forced fumble in just five games.

Furthermore, Johnson has allowed a mere 89 yards on a 52.9% completion rate and a 28.4 quarterback rating to rival QBs.

In the recent match against the Raiders, Johnson secured his first-ever two-interception game, which also included the aforementioned touchdown.

Under the supervision of general manager Ryan Poles, the Bears have witnessed more top talent depart than stay. So far, only tight end Cole Kmet has been given a contract extension during Poles' tenure.

Spotrac predicts that Johnson could land a three-year contract valued at approximately $23.3 million, translating to $7.7 million annually. Given Sunday's display, he might have increased pressure on the Bears for a contract renewal.

Discussing the ongoing contract talks, Johnson stated, «It's largely out of my hands. I know my worth and aspirations. Whatever the outcome, whether an extended contract or a trade, I trust in the path God has set for me.»
