He's been an advocate for quarterback Justin Fields' future success and has also supported the leadership of head coach Matt Eberflus. While guesting on The Rich Eisen Show, Brandt couldn't help but express overwhelming optimism about the Bears' prospects this upcoming season. Brandt boldly predicted a 13-4 regular-season record for the team.
According to Brandt, the only stumbles for the Bears would come against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Los Angeles Chargers, a single loss to the Detroit Lions, and a late-season hiccup against the Atlanta Falcons. He believes this last loss will occur because the team's focus will prematurely shift to the playoffs.
Brandt's enthusiasm didn't stop there. He also envisioned the Bears sweeping the NFL awards, predicting Justin Fields for MVP, Matt Eberflus for Coach of the Year, and rookie Darnell Wright for Rookie of the Year.
Though his projections are highly optimistic, the reality might not be so rosy. The Bears are coming off a dismal 3-14 season, landing them the first pick in the NFL draft.
While the Bears have certainly taken steps to improve, acquiring talent like DJ Moore and draft pick Wright, and signing linebackers Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards, they still have a long way to go.
So, how far can the Bears actually go this season?
While their potential is certainly higher than last year, it's probably not as sky-high as Brandt would have us believe.
