One point that stood out is when he talked about the cornerback position. He mentioned that the trend in the NFL lately has been to pay a lot of money for elite-tier corners. However, he does not expect Poles to do that this off-season. He thinks he will not be very aggressive for this position.
I think he is actually right on this. Even though you want your GM to swing for the fences on some occasions, paying for a top-tier cornerback would not be the best move moving forward. I think he needs to bring at least a couple of proven veterans that still have a lot of football in them. Two examples that fit this category are Xavier Rhodes and Charvarius Ward. Both of these guys have been very reliable for a long time. They also both are not done at all with their careers.
Even though they have had some injuries, if you sign them for a one-year deal, what is the worst that can happen? They miss some games. Fine, let's just not resign them next season and move on. The risk-to-reward ratio for veterans like them would be very good in my opinion.
