The Carolina Panthers have moved Hayden Hurst to injured reserve not long after the team's experienced tight end experienced post-traumatic amnesia due to a concussion incurred during the Nov. 9 game against the Chicago Bears, as revealed by his father, Jerry Hurst, via social media.

In the wake of his father's post that called for prayers, Hurst shared on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, that he had endured a «pretty severe concussion,» losing memory of as much as four hours post-game.

Describing the ordeal as "alarming," Hurst assured fans that the injury was not career-threatening. He announced his steps towards resuming play, expressing optimism about returning for the season's concluding games.

Despite being in ongoing concussion protocol and not participating in recent games, Hurst has been able to practice to some extent.

Hurst, who had a three-year deal worth $21.7 million with the Panthers as of the last off-season, has had a challenging season, with just 18 catches for 184 yards and a single touchdown across nine games.

In additional team news, the Panthers placed guard Justin McCray on injured reserve due to a calf injury this Friday.

With a record of 1-12, the Panthers are no longer in the running for the playoffs this season. They will be facing off against Atlanta, who currently holds a 6-7 record, this coming Sunday.
