The reason why RBs will make the case to hold out, is due to financial reasons. They do not get paid enough, even though they play the hardest in games. Every snap RBs are getting tackled and hit, yet the NFL does not see them as crucial parts to a team.
Raiders' Josh Jacobs is one of the best RBs in the game, as he led the NFL in rushing yards last season with 1,653 yards. Now with Derek Carr gone, Jacobs is being relied on to carry this team.
While on "The Rich Eisen Show," NFL insider Tom Pelissero told him that he does not believe Jacobs will be seen in week 1. Tom said:
Jacobs wants his money, just like all of the other RBs. He was not seen at the Raiders offseason programs, as well as minicamp. He has been keeping his distance, and may continue to for some time.
If he does not get the contract he wants, Jacobs will most likely not be seen week 1, and for possibly longer.
For all of the Fantasy Football players, it might be best to pass on Jacobs in the draft, and wait for a few more rounds until you pick him. It is hard to rely on a player who was not seen at any offseason events, and will most likely be out week 1.
