Under Beatty's guidance, Allen continued to excel, averaging 7.2 catches for 80.3 yards and 0.4 touchdowns per game. This represented a slight improvement from the three years preceding Beatty's tenure, during which Allen averaged 6.5 catches, 73.6 yards, and 0.4 touchdowns per game.
The Bears officially appointed Shane Waldron as their new offensive coordinator the previous Tuesday. Just three days later, the team announced that Kerry Joseph, who had been Waldron's assistant quarterbacks coach in Seattle, would also join the Bears as the new quarterbacks coach.
