Carr, who was relegated to the bench by the Las Vegas Raiders towards the end of the season, still managed to earn a Pro Bowl selection, his fourth, which could potentially elevate his worth after an impressive performance. The Raiders are eager to part ways with the quarterback, but they must act swiftly, as his salary will become fully guaranteed on February 15th.
According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, the Buccaneers are widely predicted to secure Carr's services. "The buzz at the Senior Bowl [in Mobile, Alabama] is connecting the Buccaneers with Derek Carr," Robinson stated on the You Pod to Win the Game podcast. "It's probably his most likely destination, if the Buccaneers aim to avoid a complete reboot and instead attempt to piece the team back together."
As reported by NFL Network's Jom Trotter, the Raiders are unlikely to trade Carr and will instead opt to release him, as teams could potentially demand two other players if they choose to go the trade route. Carr recorded 4,804 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions in 2021, with a completion rate of 68.4 percent. Despite his play regressing this season, he still managed to throw for 3,522 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions, completing 60.8 percent of his passes.
