The Bears have picked a 3rd player on the night!
GM Ryan Poles has made his third selection of the night. This time, it's WRVelus Jones.
He played his college football at Tennessee University!
This is another solid pick from the Bears. Jones is 5"11 and weighs 204 pounds. He ran a blazing 4,31 40-yard dash. His ceiling is very high! However, I have to wonder about his age. He is actually 25 years old, which is very high for a draft pick. There were a few other very highly ranked players like LB Nakobe Dean or WR David Bell still available for the Bears with this selection as well... Although, I have to give GM Ryan Poles credit for sticking to his draft board.
He has shown that he can be an excellent return-man specialist at the next level. It will be interesting to see if OC Luke Getsy is able to utilize him nicely in the offense.
So, I think it's a very intriguing selection by Poles but Jones' value on special teams should not be overlooked and he provides a rare, true 4.3 speed at the WR position. Gotta have trust!
