The Chicago Bears have expressed their commitment to Justin Fields, although it remains unclear whether this is a genuine stance or part of a strategic approach to keep their draft plans confidential.

General Manager Ryan Poles has indicated his intention to maintain this approach until April, keeping all options open for the upcoming NFL Draft.

Head Coach Matt Eberflus has voiced his support for Fields, praising his progress in areas such as reducing interceptions and sack totals, as well as his ability to keep his focus downfield.

Despite these statements, there is the possibility of subterfuge, and Fields might find himself elsewhere next season while the Bears explore their draft options.

The Bears intend to thoroughly evaluate the available talent leading up to the draft, including the possibility of selecting Caleb Williams with the first overall pick. This decision-making process will encompass various factors, and it's uncertain whether Fields will remain with the team.

However, there are compelling reasons the Bears might contemplate parting ways with Fields:

1. Alternative Talent Available: Some scouts have touted Caleb Williams as the next Patrick Mahomes, suggesting that waiting for this draft could yield a quarterback with immense potential. Other options like Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels also present intriguing choices, and the Bears could trade down and accumulate additional picks while still securing a different quarterback in the first round.

2. Fields' Lack of Wins: Justin Fields has started 38 games but has only recorded 10 wins. In contrast, quarterbacks like Jordan Love, C.J. Stroud, and Trevor Lawrence found success early in their careers, leading their teams to the playoffs and winning games.

3. Inability to Finish Games: Fields has struggled to close out games, with just two fourth-quarter comebacks and three game-winning drives in three seasons. In comparison, other young quarterbacks have demonstrated a more effective ability to finish games.

4. Ineffective Passing: Fields' passing statistics, including completion percentage and passer rating, are not impressive. His career completion percentage ranks low among active quarterbacks, and his passer rating has room for improvement.

5. Trade Value: Fields still holds trade value due to his athleticism and arm strength, making him a valuable asset that could yield a favorable return for the Bears.

6. Rushing vs. Passing: While Fields is a talented runner, his passing game has not matched the impact of his rushing. Lamar Jackson, often cited as a comparison, complements his rushing abilities with outstanding passing efficiency, which Fields has yet to achieve.

In summary, while the Bears have publicly supported Justin Fields, there are valid reasons they might contemplate trading him, including the availability of alternative quarterback talent, his limited success, struggles to finish games, ineffective passing, trade value, and the need for a more balanced playing style.
