While the Chicago bears' fans are more familiar with another player named Khalil, the running back is truly a great talent. He played a lot last season after starting running back David Montgomery got injured for a few games. Herbert was amazing in his relief. Even with his team being behind on the scoreboard for the majority of the games, he was still able to produce excellent numbers. Herbert averaged over 86 rushing yards in 4 starts.
Herbert could compete for the backup spot and he should most likely win it. With him being a very capable receiver out of the backfield, he can see a lot of time on third downs. If he is able to become a better pass blocker, he will certainly be a bigger presence for the Bears' offense.
Herbert has a bright future in front of him and he will be able to compliment David Montgomery very nicely for years to come.
